(Re)connecting to Nature – Returning to Our Natural Connection
Share
We are nature. Not separate from it – but born of it.
Nature gives us everything we need: nourishment, healing, protection, and inspiration.
And yet, many of us have lost or forgotten this deep connection.
In a world that is becoming faster, louder, and more digital, it's more important than ever to realign with the original force of nature. Being connected to nature doesn't mean living in a state of lack or isolating yourself in a forest. Quite the opposite: Reconnecting with nature brings true abundance – physically, mentally, and spiritually. It’s a path to wholeness, to inner peace, and to remembering who we truly are.
Seeing the Little Wonders
Often, the first step back to nature doesn’t require much.
Start by noticing the little things: the rustling of the leaves, the humming of bees, the play of sunlight on your skin.
Nature invites us to pause. To leave behind stress and haste.
Whether you're walking in the woods, sitting on a city balcony full of herbs, or standing barefoot in the grass, you can connect with her anywhere.
And yes – my family and friends already know this about me, and lovingly tease me for it:
“I need to go outside and check how the grass is growing.”
To me, it’s a kind of meditation. A deep reconnection.
My nervous system exhales, my heart becomes quiet.

Rediscover Childlike Wonder
Nature speaks in soft tones. When we look through the eyes of a child, we discover tiny miracles everywhere. Do you remember? For many of us, it was normal to jump in puddles, watch beetles, chase butterflies, and pick flowers. Most of the time, we didn’t even want to go back inside. This playful, wide-eyed connection still lives within us. It’s simply waiting to be welcomed back. And the more we open up to it, the more we perceive – and feel:
We are part of a great, living whole.
Eat Naturally, Care Naturally – A Gentle Return to Simplicity
What we eat and what we apply to our skin doesn't just affect how we look – it shapes our energy, our well-being, and our relationship with the natural world.
The food and cosmetic industries rarely care whether we truly feel well.
It's about profit, not well-being.
Nature, on the other hand, is different:
It has always provided everything we need, harmoniously aligned with our needs.
Plants, oils, roots, and fruits – they nourish, protect, cleanse, and strengthen us.
No harmful additives. No hidden toxins.
But: You don’t need to overhaul everything overnight.
The journey back to natural living can be gentle and intuitive.
I personally follow the 80/20 principle:
80% of what I eat and use is natural, intuitive, and healthy. The other 20% are for little “cheats” – without guilt.
My goal is to achieve a 95/5 ratio someday. But without pressure. No perfectionism.
Want to get started? Here are some gentle steps:
– Reduce refined sugar and processed carbs.
– Use honey or natural sweeteners like dates instead of artificial ones.
– Check ingredient lists: If it’s too long or filled with words you can’t pronounce, leave it on the shelf.
– “Everything in moderation” is often more natural than any extreme.
Listen to your body – it knows what truly nourishes you.
It’s not about getting it all “right.”
It’s about learning to listen to your body again – and giving it what it truly needs, both inside and out.

Nature Connection – A Healing Path for Body, Mind & Soul
Numerous scientific studies now demonstrate the profound impact of nature on our health.
One particularly powerful practice is forest bathing (Shinrin‑yoku), where people immerse themselves in the forest for just a few hours, with impressive effects:
Lower blood pressure and cortisol levels (the stress hormone)
A stronger immune system
Improved heart rate and reduced inflammation markers
At the same time, meta-analyses and reviews indicate that individuals who feel more connected to nature experience significantly less anxiety, greater joy, and improved mental clarity, with better focus, reduced overthinking, and a deeper sense of belonging.
And the best part: Even small “everyday nature spaces” – like urban parks, courtyard gardens, or balconies – create these benefits.
Even watching nature documentaries has measurable positive effects on the psyche.

The Subtle Realm of Nature
Our connection to nature is not only physically and emotionally healing – it also creates space for spiritual encounters.
Many traditions and cultures acknowledge the presence of nature spirits, fairies, or earth angels – luminous beings who tend to and enliven the natural world.
Some feel them as a soft breeze, while others experience a quiet heart impulse or a gentle inner knowing when seeing a stone or a leaf.
They are, like angels, always present and accessible.
You simply have to invite them in and listen with an open heart.
They often work quietly, but their guidance is profound.
When you connect with a tree, a flower, a river, or simply the earth beneath your feet, you may also sense these subtle helpers.
It doesn’t take complex rituals. Just mindfulness, respect, and a willingness to open.
Returning Home to Nature – A Gentle Practice
If you feel out of balance and wonder, “What’s wrong with me?” From my perspective, it could be because you’ve forgotten where you come from: You are a part of nature.
And when we lose that connection, a kind of homesickness can arise.
Our cells long for natural light. Our nervous system craves soft tones and gentle energy.
If that resonates, try this practice:
Find a tree that speaks to you.
Sit at its roots or stand with your back to its trunk. Lean in – and relax.
Connect inwardly: Greet the tree. Feel its presence.
Ask it gently to help you feel better, more grounded, more connected.
You can even ask the tree specific questions.
Answers may come in the form of feelings, thoughts, signs, or unexpected events.
Be patient and listen.
When you’re ready, turn around and hug the tree if you feel called – and thank it for its presence and support.
You can visit this tree regularly. Not just in hard times, but also to nurture your bond.
You can also ask trees or other plants how they’re doing – or if they need anything.
They’ll be happy to be heard.

In Harmony with Yourself and Nature
Nature is not just a concept. She is a living spirit – a collective soul, rooted in where we come from, from the very source where life itself took form. When you reconnect with her, you also reconnect with yourself – your body, your heart, your intuition, and what truly nourishes and sustains you.
If you’d like to gently deepen that journey, you’ll find loving inspiration in my

And in my 30-Day Self-Love Workbook – a daily invitation to reconnect with your body and deepen your love for yourself.
